eBillboard is installed with three sample Billboards. These may be edited or deleted from the Configuration Page. The default Billboard at start-up can also be selected from the Configuration Page.

To select and start a Billboard, use the mouse or touch gesture so that the desired Billboard is highlighted, then go back to the Main Menu and press the Start button. The Current Billboard is displayed at the top of the Main Menu Start Page.

Your First Billboard

To add a new Billboard, press the “+” button on the Billboard list on the right of the Configuration Page. Each Billboard should have a unique name which you can edit from the configuration.

A Billboard has a single background that remains consistent as Pages are displayed. The background can be a single color, a gradient, or a full screen image. If an image is selected using the “Select” button, it will hide any selected background color.

Along with the background, a Billboard may have a consistent Header and/or Footer. The Header and Footer text is set using the standard Text Editor Menu. From this menu you can set the text size, fonts, colors, alignment, etc. Text and Images can also be inserted using Cut and Paste from your own editor such as MS Word.

When setting Headers, Footers and other Page Items, adjust the size and placement in the display using the Preview at the bottom right of the Configuration Page. Use the Preview as a guide for how the page will appear in full screen. This Preview may be sized using the two (horizontal and vertical) adjustment bars.

If desired, a background audio can be selected and this audio will play in a continuous loop while the Billboard is running. Audio volume and balance (left and right) can be adjusted.

To delete a Billboard, highlight the Billboard to be deleted then press the “-“ button at the bottom of the list.

Billboard Sequences

Along with a Background, a Billboard must have one or more Pages to display. These are called Page Sequences. To edit the Billboard Sequence, press the “Sequence” button to the right of the Billboard name on the list. The Page will change to the Sequence Configuration, and the Billboard List will be replaced with the selected Billboards Sequence List. Highlight any sequence to edit. The Sequence Preview will be shown at the bottom right and may also be sized.

When a new Billboard is created, it will have no Page Sequences. To add a new Sequence, press the “+” button at the bottom of the List. A Sequence Page can be one of three types:

When adding a new Sequence Page, you must select the Sequence Type, and give the Page a descriptive name. The Sequence Editing Page will then be shown where you can select Images (for Image Sequences) or Videos (for Video Sequences).

All Sequence Pages have a configurable display duration, as well as an optional transition type. If a Transition Type is selected, also set the transition duration using the slider control.

Each page may also contain an audio file to be played when the page is first displayed. This audio should be shorter than the page duration as it will cut off when the page is transitioned. If a background Billboard audio is playing, the Page audio will be mixed in.

Sequences Pages will appear in the order of the list. This sequence can be changed by dragging any Sequence to the desired position in the list.

To delete a Page Sequence, highlight the Sequence to be deleted then press the “-“ button at the bottom of the list.

Open the Preferences from the Charms Menu, or the Bottom App Bar Button. From there you can set an option to Auto Start the Default Billboard when the Application is launched. This enables you to start the application and Billboard upon OS Power On – for Billboards that are not immediately accessible.

When the Billboard is running, it can be stopped using an Optional STOP button on the bottom App Menu. This menu can be disabled, but if disabled, the only way to go back to the Main Menu is the close and restart the app using Alt-F4 or the Windows Close gesture. Because of this, auto start cannot be set if the Stop button is disabled.

The eBillboard Application is Advertiser Sponsored. This helps pay for continued improvement and support. The standard banner add may be displayed when the default eBillboard is running. This banner advertisement can be disabled by purchasing the full version of the app. optionally, your own PubCenter AppID and AdID can be set, if you wish to keep the banner ads running.

With the Full Version, you can also specify the Banner Advertisement Placement and size.

Best Practices

You are encourage to use your own Images and Image editor to create complex graphics and logos. eBillboard is neither an image designer nor a full word processor. It is meant to display large text to a passing audience. If you wish to add custom borders, first create the border and use the Image Sequence Page to select and position the border, then add the desired text.

Keep thing big. Small text and too much content will not be noticed.

Don’t transition pages too quickly. A minimum of 30 seconds per page is typical. Use random transitions to keep things entertaining.

Don’t mix fonts. More than two fonts per page make the Sequence Page difficult to read.

Keep colors consistent. Pastels work well together, and font colors can be set using the text editor.

There are eight backgrounds included, but it is best to create and/or pick your own that matches the content.

If you are using eBillboard, a FullVersion purchase is greatly appreciated, as is any positive review and feedback you can provide.
